The glorious Modena Audrome: adventures of men, intelligence and motors
The glorious Modena Autodrome was built in 1949 and inaugurated on May 7, 1950 with the Grand Prix of Modena reserved for Formula 2 cars, won by Alberto Ascari, the plant was active mainly in the fifties and sixties. It was also used as an airport, a car and motorcycle racetrack, driving school.
Indeed, for over 20 years, Modena and its racetrack were the small European Indianapolis, representing an important record of the growth of motor racing in the 50s and 60s: Thanks to the "racetrack", Maserati, Ferrari, De Tomaso, Stanguellini and craft workshops of extraordinary value have had the opportunity to develop, quickly transfer winning ideas and concepts to be used in races.
65 years after the first Modena Autodrome competition, Modena Motor Gallery, thanks to the collaboration of Circolo della Biella, organises a very appealing exhibition to remember an epic of Italian motoring history. The exhibition focuses precisely on this period and this industrial alchemy with unpublished photographs and objects on display for the first time.
The Craftsman's Road
Modena Motor Gallery wants to make its contribution and to pay tribute to the craft of the craftsmen. The perimeter of the Pavilion A has come to life the "Craftsman’s road": over 30 companies among the best in the country, panel beaters, upholsterers, mechanics, electricians and restorers.
Who is behind the splendor of a historic car that looks like straight out of a workshop of 50 years ago?
The answer is simple: the craftsmen.
People knowledgeable and very capable, with a great passion and an incredible wealth of knowledge, they reconstruct a fender, tirelessly seek the original of that specific piece by dozens of markets, prepare the most appropriate paint that exist, retie hundreds of rusted wires and worn by time to return to its original splendor an electrical system, seeking the finnest fabrics to restore the splendor to the old upholstery, or even engage in beating the plates as they did many years ago.
